Netflix hit the meme jackpot with Bird Box.
With millions of people streaming the hit Sandra Bullock movie…
And even more millions of people sharing memes.

Sure, it’s all well and good for their publicity…
But there’s one meme Netflix wants you to stop sharing.
People are walking around blindfolded for the ‘Bird Box’ Challenge https://t.co/l53EjTiqvI pic.twitter.com/f9ORzCpGfo

According to KRON4, the movie is inspiring a new challenge.
Basically, you have to go 24 hours with a blindfold on.
But only while you’re outside.
It’s a terrible idea. And one Netflix doesn’t exactly support.
They responded to the challenge on Twitter:
Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes.

In case they take it down, here’s the transcript:
“Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes.”
