“Lady Marmalade” was one of those once-in-a-generation kind of songs.

Okay, sure, Patti Labelle made it big in 1974… .

But P!nk, Mya, Lil Kim, and Christina Aguilera made the song for a new generation in 2001.

And now, Ed Sheeran wants to try his hand at it.

According to Yahoo News, Ed’s got pretty big ambitions for the song.

He wants to remake it…

But with an all-male cast of singers.

Specifically, he wants to remake the song with Bruno Mars and Justin Bieber.

Yahoo News quotes Sheeran as explaining:

“I had an idea of doing that. Like you could get Bruno [Mars], [Justin] Bieber and me on a record. How fun would that be?”

Now, granted, he’s talking about the genesis of his new album…

No. 6 Collaborations Project, which is due in July.

But still.

Ed, c’mon.

Remaking an iconic all-female song with all-male singers…

Is just a recipe for disaster.
