Ed Sheeran tried to brush off the lawsuit.

But it looks like he’s going to have to face the music.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, a judge has ordered Ed Sheeran to face his lawsuit that claims plagiarism.

The lawsuit alleges that he used parts of Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On”

…For his song, “Thinking Out Loud.”

The Manhattan judge says there is enough evidence for a jury to decide whether Sheeran’s song has “substantial similarities” to the Marvin Gaye classic.

They may even decide the song structure in question is too common to be protected by copyright.

The jury will view footage of Sheeran performing “Thinking Out Loud” along with “Let’s Get It On.”

And will even transition “between the songs.”

Ed Sheeran has denied copying Gaye’s song.

But like… dude.

Whether or not you outright stole the melody…

The songs sound strikingly similar.
