According to SF Gate, Disney is honoring Black History Month, and the cultural impact of the Marvel film by offering free screenings.
They’ve teamed up with theater chain AMC for it.
Disney will also be making a sizable donation to UNCF.
Bob Iger, CEO of Disney said in a press release:
“Black Panther is groundbreaking for many reasons, including the rich diversity of voices behind its success… The story also showcases the power of knowledge to change the world for the better, and the importance of ensuring everyone has access to it. We’re proud to provide thousands of free screenings of Black Panther in hopes it will continue to inspire audiences, and to support UNCF with a $1.5 million grant to make the dream of higher education a reality for more students.”
The free screenings will happen twice a day between February 1st and 7th at participating AMC theaters.
This includes several in the Bay Area!
Black Panther recently won the “Best Cast” and “Stunt Ensemble” awards at the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards.
